Delete your DiviSum account

This page explains how to delete your DiviSum account, what happens to your data when you do, and what is kept. DiviSum is published on Google Play by Mihir Bavisi.

Delete your account from inside the app

This is the fastest way and takes effect immediately.

Open DiviSum and make sure you are signed in.
Go to the Account tab.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
Read the summary, type the confirmation, and confirm.

Or request deletion by email

If you cannot access the app — for example you have uninstalled it or cannot sign in — email us from the address associated with your account and we will delete it for you.

Please include the email address you signed in with so we can identify the account. We aim to action requests within 30 days and will confirm by email once it is done.

What is deleted

Data	What happens
Your profile	Name, email address and profile picture are permanently erased.
Your sign-in	Your account and its link to Google Sign-In are removed. You will be signed out on every device.
Notification tokens	Push notification identifiers for all your devices are deleted.
Group membership	You are removed from every group you belong to.

What is kept, and why

DiviSum records shared expenses between people. Expenses, splits and settlements you took part in are also part of other people's records of what they owe and are owed.

So those entries are kept, but they are disconnected from you. Your name is replaced with “Deleted user” and nothing personally identifying remains attached to them.

Why we do not erase them outright: deleting shared expenses would silently change the balances of everyone else in your groups. Someone who owed money could appear to owe nothing, with no record of why. Keeping the entries anonymised means other members' records stay accurate while none of your personal information is retained.

Data	What happens
Expenses and splits you created or were part of	Kept and shown to other group members as “Deleted user”. No personal data attached.
Settlements involving you	Kept and anonymised, for the same reason.
Groups you created	Continue to exist for their remaining members.

Before you delete

Deleting your account cannot be undone. If you have outstanding balances, settle them first — once your account is gone you will not be able to see what you owed or were owed.

DiviSum has no paid plans or subscriptions, so there is nothing to cancel before deleting your account.
